Judy Zhu is a tenured professor at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) in Monterey, California. She specializes in faculty training, second langauge acquisition assessment, and Chinese language education.
Professor Zhu is a Beijing native. She is passionate about teaching her native language and culture. She has taught Mandarin Chinese at several institutes including Belitz, the Monterey Instutute of International Studies, and the Defense Langauge Institute Foreign Language Center.
In addition to her post-graduate study on foreign language education, Professor Zhu also earned a Master's degree of Conference Interpretation from Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS), a graduate school of Middlebury College. She participated in many negotiations as a US Embassy interpreter when China was negotiating to join the WTO.
Apart from being a member of California Writers Club (CWC), Professor Zhu is also a member of the Chinese Language Teachers Association of California (CLTAC) as well as a member of American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). She resides in Monterey, California, with her husband Leif Johnston and their son Eric Johnston.
